The files are HUGE, so if you don't have a high-speed connection, it will take a while.  But worth the wait!

(Estimated speeds: 28.8k = 6 minutes, 56k = 3 minutes, DSL/CABLE = 22 seconds, T1 or Greater = 5 seconds)

If you have KMPC photos you would like to see on this site,

QSL Verification Card

sent to a listener who DXed the 500-Watt station from Lansdale, Pennsylvania

and was mailed on

February 15, 1936

(That's 500-Watt KMPC, not 50,000-Watt)

Rare personalized QSL verification letter

sent by KMPC to a DXer in British Columbia in 1932.  Note the time KMPC was on the air on 710AM.  They were technically licensed as a Limited Time Station.  That means the FCC allowed them to be on the air as a daytimer only, as not to interfere with the dominant 50kw station, New York's WOR-710.

KMPC TRANSMITTER

Below the RCA 50F transmitter is the blower room. These are redundant, high volume blowers which created negative pressure in this blower room. Blowers were operated, one at a time, alternating on schedule. Air was drawn through two walls of filters which comprised a plenum room.

These magnificent looking tubes are the high voltage rectifiers of the RCA 50F transmitter. Fondly referred to as the "Frankenstein Tubes". They produced 10,000 volts with enough current to power the RF amplifier and audio power amplifier stages.
